Wasn't like that when i saw it...i think. But still get ready...this is SO flamebait for some people.
Right now, it's too close to a warrior. Just in the fact that it's melee. I dunno, i kinda like it right now, i just can't see it going very far at all.

Are you talking about me or another Samurai hating Canadian?
The ideas for the build are ok, but again Samurai do not belong in guild wars. Why you ask? Because they do not just run into battle swinging franticly like a warrior. They have more grace than that, they are basicly a lame version of a ninja.

Anime ninja maybe. Real ninjas were actually really lame. The first one was a crossdresser and others just dressed in normal clothes to trick their enemies.
No they didn't wear black costumes, jump buildings and all that other stuff.

Lame? I think not.
No matter how you look at it, Ninja, Samurai, Pirates and Power Rangers do not fit into guild wars.

A Samurai with only a Katana? Blasphemy.
Samurais used bows, spears [Naginata], and of course 2nd shortsword [Wakizashi], and various other weapons and their different variations.

ROFL... But in GW faction there will be an asain theme, I think a Samurai would fit in fine there. Just look at the Zaishen, they are a little samurai looking.

Isn’t a samurai a specific type of warrior? Much like how a Paladin is treated in the game. It just seems a little redundant to have a profession titled that. Like how a ninja is essentially an assassin. A pirate can be classified under thief (I know GW doesn't have those). And so on and so forth.
But I do like some of those ideas on the skills and stances.
Maybe instead of Katana Mastery, title it 2 Handed Swordsmanship? A samurai uses a lot more variety of weapons, and they weren’t restricted to a Katana for a sword.
I can’t think of a good name at a moment to better describe this, but creating a new profession titled “X” with more of a finesse in melee combat with those stances in mind would be a nice idea.
The warrior can be the grunt profession with their axes, swords and hammers. The assassin with their speed, combos and criticals. And the "X" profession can specialize in more stance related melee (like a defensive fighter?).
Along with their 2 Handed Swordsmanship trait, maybe add Polearms Mastery to it (ie. Spears, Scythes, Pikes, Halberds, etc).
I think this will be a good style for a new melee profession. Between an assassin and a warrior, there isn’t much to choose from, and that’s only if you plan to get Factions. Where as we have a whole variety of spell caster at our disposal.

Dynasty Warriors FTW!
As much as I enjoy the asian theme professions, I would rather see more unique types later in the game.
With Faction's new skills and items, you might be able to "create" a "Samurai" build, you never know. (I wouldnt like it to be a "profession" though.)
Still nice well thought out idea.
